Papers of Abraham Goldstein. This box includes notes on speeches dealing with Zionism and speeches connected to local Hartford politics, including a mayoral election. There is also a report on a trip to Israel delivered by Goldstein's wife, apparently some time in the 1940s or early 1950s. Also included is material on a campaign urging the British government not to abandon its promise of a Jewish homeland as implied in the Balfour Declaration of 1917. The material includes a postal telegram on the topic composed by Rabbi Stephen Wise. There is also material relating to the Emergency Committee for Palestine.

Abraham Goldstein, born Dec. 30, 1893 in Kiev, was an insurance executive in Hartford, Connecticut, active in Democratic politics in Hartford, and a leader of the Zionist movement. He served as vice president of the Zionist Organization of America, was on the executive committee of the American Jewish Congress, president of the Connecticut State Zionist Region, and chairman of the Emergency Committee for Palestine.
